Loop Variation
Combining physical and digital creative processes, the Cryptocarpet is a digital installation piece, built in reference to a physical carpet designed and physically crafted by Yam in the studio.
While the physical carpet was hand crafted with a tufting gun, the digital version is a self-growing installation piece, simulated to mimic the effect of real hair growth at an exponential rate.

About the Process
For the physical Cryptocarpet, a standard methodology was followed: the carpet was designed, the backing was prepared, tufting was completed using a range of colours and the piece was finished with clippers.
The digital component was completed using Houdini’s Vellum Hair system.
